Oil Painting Course with John Sotorrio

Join figurative painter, John Sotorrio, at Oyez in Altrincham for an introduction to oil painting.  The workshop is ideal for beginners who will get the opportunity to learn how to use and mix oil paint, how to utilise mediums and glazes.  More experienced artists are welcome to hone their skills and learn new techniques.  Over the 5 sessions the classes will cover:

• An introduction to oil painting, an understanding of layering and glazing.
• Traditional painting techniques, mediums, brushes and tools.
• Drawing, composition and perspective.
• Basic colour theory and palettes.
• Complete a still life or self portrait.

• Basic set of oil paints and brushes 
• Primed 30×40 canvas 
• Odourless mineral spirits
