Our Vision
To save a much loved heritage building & community asset for public use. We’ll do this by
- Developing a programme of cultural events & activities for the whole community
- Being inclusive & reaching all areas of the community
- Supporting local – local talent, local business & local wellbeing, creating opportunities to showcase work or just be together
- Celebrating community and using the hall for private and public events
- Inviting the local community to be a part of the OYEZ Story and help secure a sustainable future for Altrincham Town Hall
Our Beginnings
In 2013 Trafford council made a difficult decision to dispose of Altrincham Town Hall and to lease the building to private tender.
2000 local people rallied together and successfully petitioned to save the building and retain it as a community asset.
The bidding process re-opened to include community minded projects.
In 2023, Oyez Arts proudly won the bid, presenting an exciting new concept for Altrincham and the wider community and a promise to make the Hall buzz once more with community spirit.
OYEZ ARTS is off to a great start but needs your support to fully succeed. We are a charitable benefit society and not for profit organisation.

OYEZ – what does it mean.
Oyez (pronounced Oh Yay) is the original call of the Town Crier. It comes from the French verb to listen and literally means ‘Hear ye’. We like that it is a celebratory shout-out and a call to invite everyone into a space that was made to bring people together.

Jo Cushing
Formally Founder and CEO of Inch Arts Altrincham, Jo brings artistic direction to OYEZ Arts along with the experience of running community wellbeing projects.
For Jo, OYEZ has been a passion project, a desire to save the building for community use and the insight to turn this beautiful building into a cultural hub, for creativity, participation and inclusion.
JODIE SAINT
Jodie has spent 30 years in creative production, she was Co-Owner/Director of the successful event management agency Pi-Live, specialising in audience participation and engagement.
Jodie knows the importance of well-managed events, clear communication and careful financial control.
Her passion is for creating collaborative projects that stretch our imagination and the belief we have in ourselves.
